ptahrrific: Cecil and Carlos with science in the dark (night vale)
Title: A Matter of Time before All Your Alliances
Fandom: Welcome to Night Vale, The Hunger Games
Characters/Pairings: Cecil & Carlos, Khoshekh, Sheriff's secret police
Rating: T
Warnings: post-traumatic stress, violence, police brutality, badly hurt Khoshekh, references to: non-con, character death, attempted suicide. (So, a bunch of THG standards.)
Disclaimer: All recognizable characters and settings are not mine.

Like everyone else, I needed to write a cathartic Khoshekh fic post-e043, and this is what came out. A follow-up to the AU where Carlos is a Hunger Games victor.

Revolution is hard; building a new society out of the wreckage is harder. Cecil's position in the post-war Panem is shaky at best, and there are times when Carlos can't protect him...or Khoshekh. Very loose remix of e043 Visitor, crossed with e037 The Auction.

( It doesn't occur to him to go knock on one of his fellow Victors' doors for backup. They've been his allies for years, but they've also spent most of that time scattered across the Districts and unable to help in a situation like this, so Carlos the Scientist is self-reliant. )

Title: He Says He Volunteers As Tribute, 3/3: The Mentor
Fandom: Welcome to Night Vale, The Hunger Games
Characters/Pairings: one-sided (?) Cecil/Carlos, Josie, Earl, Steve, Larry Leroy, Tamika, Paolo, Franklin Wilson, Dana, Erika, Megan Wallaby, others
Rating: T (references to non-con, even more character death)
Disclaimer: All recognizable characters and settings are not mine.

AU. Carlos has been his district's only mentor for the Hunger Games for a decade now (and part of Panem's favorite celebrity romance for almost as long). This year, though? He's gotten a tribute who might be, not just a survivor, but someone who can help change the Games forever.

( 'Exciting news, listeners! Perfect Carlos, the mentor for our brilliant, bold Tamika, is here in the studio with us. Let's see if we can get an interview!' )

Title: He Says He Volunteers As Tribute, 2/3: The Victor
Fandom: Welcome to Night Vale, The Hunger Games
Characters/Pairings: one-sided Cecil/Carlos, Leann Hart, Pamela Winchell, Josie, Khoshekh, others
Rating: T (violence, PTSD, prescription drug [ab]use, suicidal ideation, more character death)
Disclaimer: All recognizable characters and settings are not mine.

AU. Carlos has survived the Hunger Games, earning himself a cute nickname and a hefty helping of trauma. One year later, he has to return to the Capitol in the company of next year's tributes...and re-encounter the commentator who still has a frankly scary obsession with him.

( He reads the canned speeches Leann gives him, and walks away with vague memories of saying that such-and-such a district must be the most fascinating place in the country. )

Title: He Says He Volunteers As Tribute, 1/3: The Volunteer
Fandom: Welcome to Night Vale, The Hunger Games
Characters/Pairings: one-sided Cecil/Carlos, Simone Rigadeau, Leann Hart, Glow Cloud, Vithya, others
Rating: T (violence, character death)
Disclaimer: All recognizable characters and settings are not mine.

AU. How Carlos scienced his way into winning the Hunger Games, and what he did with his life afterward.

Complete, in three parts. Will be posted as it's edited (in between chapters of the ongoing HDM AU). Part one: Carlos's Games...as told through the voice of Cecil, the long-time Games commentator (and beloved Capitol fashion icon) who fell in love with him the instant he volunteered.

( I'm sure we'll be hearing plenty about this young man over the next week. Possibly even from people other than me. )
