Every time same-sex marriage reaches another legal milestone, "Stephen" almost marries some dude. (And Ellen DeGeneres that one time.)
Canon: the epic 8/5/10 plan to ruin same-sex marriage, and the 5/9/12 almost-marriage with Tad. Written in 2012, so some details in the last section were altered post-2015 to bring them in line with reality. The Universal Life Church is an actual thing, for which you can become a legally ordained minister for free over email if you are so inclined.
