WIP Meme, 2013 edition

So, yeah, the rate at which I write things is ridiculously varied. There are fics that come together quickly -- I have plenty of short ones that were finished in one sitting -- and, as seen in this meme, fics that have been sitting around untouched for two years...

Art and mixes are pretty much the same deal, by the way. I have WIP images and tentative tracklists that haven't been updated for more than a year, but most of the things I post don't sit around nearly that long.

(And the longer I go without working on something, the more my eyes get used to it being in the WIP folder and skim right over it. I had totally forgotten "hellsing sedoretu" was there until just this moment, eheh.)

Currently just a few paragraphs of summary/notes. Here's the breakdown of the cast...

Rimmer's father and brothers are probably all Victors, so when he gets reaped, there's a truckload of pressure for him to live up to the family history. In a different District, Kochanski gets chosen as the female tribute, so Lister volunteers in place of the male tribute, planning to protect her. Cat and Kryten are Rimmer and Lister's stylists, respectively.

Hmm, would Rimmer be reaped though? Or is he a Career?

OMG CAT THE STYLIST? Cat the stylist. Cat? The Stylist? Cat the Stylist!! Perfect.

Victors' family members get reaped all the time, so why not?

Rimmer wouldn't be a volunteer, but even if he's not in a Career district his father probably put all the boys through tough training, which is why his older brothers did so well. (Poor Arn was the one who always got beat up by them, though...)

Cat is the fashion king of Panem =D

Another one that's mostly summary/notes so far:

Izabel works the door, tries to keep Homura from coming in. Homura doesn't know what she's stumbled into, thinks it's just a normal bar, is only trying to get a drink.

(It's a no-powers Madoka Magica AU where they all meet through a BDSM club.)

The upside is if you want to get some writing done you have a lot of other fics to procrastinate with.

A sitting can be many different lengths! But it's always less than a day.



If I Fall Along The Way -- a Madoka Magica fic where Homura flips out on Madoka for contracting yet again, and it's all very angsty and heartrending. About half-finished, I think.

Madoka stumbled backward, and the still-unsteady Homura fell forward after her, striking Madoka's face again for good measure. "You were safe!" she cried, grabbing Madoka's shoulders, fingers digging into the puffed white sleeves and pushing hard enough to shake Madoka's entire frame.



Tentacle Aftercare -- the one where "Stephen" goes into the tentacle monster district. The obvious happens. So Jon and Sweetness have to team up to rescue him. Mostly finished, if only I can figure out what kind of scene to end on.

The friendly voice of the GPS started giving Jon warnings once he was within a few blocks of the district limits. "Turn left at intersection. Caution: approaching cephalon territory. Advance one hundred feet. Are you sure you want to do this?"

Sweetness, who had insisted on being buckled in, rattled against the seatbelt as the car turned. We will sever its limbs where it stands and make it scream like the filthy squid it is.

"That's really racist," said Jon automatically. "Besides, I don't think squids can scream."



Prompt ficlets 5 -- the latest roundup of fake news ficlets I've already posted on Open Threads, so you've probably seen them already...

Normally Jon would have objected to being left out of a decision like this, but Greta's nose was still twitching and she was perfectly docile under his hands, and who was Jon to object to a thing like that? "You did, ah, get her a cage and some chew toys and stuff, right?" he asked, just to be on the safe side.

"I'm still working on all the little details," said Stephen airily. "Got the spinning wheel, though!" He got to his feet and ran a hand along the curve of the wheel. "I'm going to teach myself how to spin Angora wool, and make us matching sweaters."

OMG That is so awesome. I love protective!Jon and Sweetness - wonder what kind of being she is here - is awesome.

I wonder if it's rape or consensual sex. Knowing "Stephen", it might just be the latter.

Fake News - The Musical -- a short file with a wishful-thinking filename. I've only ever come up with one song, and still don't know exactly what kind of plot to put it in ^_^;

An eleven-foot mass of tentacles was writhing against one of the next building's walls. Its hide was dull purple and covered with iridescent speckles; the undersides of its tentacles were paler, highlighting the rows of flushed suckers. One of Stephen's polished black loafers lay on its side between the creature and Jon, blue-white ichor dripping from the heel.

kink AU -- this one is basically just the summary so far :/

It's pretty well established that all versions of "Stephen" end up with whatever kinks and turn-ons they believe are least acceptable for them to have. So what happens to him in an AU where every kink is normal?



The Little Pundit -- a "Stephen"/Jon Little Mermaid AU (starring Swimmy Fallon in the supporting BFF role). About a chapter's worth is written. On hold for the moment because I just finished that whole Cecil/Carlos Little Mermaid AU, and don't want to burn myself out completely on fish puns.

Was someone trying to scoop Seafin on his discoveries? Should Seafin challenge the intruder to a fight? But what if they had poisonous spines? He was too young to die!

As Seafin was stalled with indecision, bobbing lightly in place, a familiar turtle silhouette appeared outside the glass-lined outer exit. "Hey, Seafin, I don't like the look of this weather. I really think...."

"Swimmy, look out!" yelled Seafin, and launched himself forward. He had to protect his best friend from the intruder! And hey, if they did get attacked with poison spines, he could use Swimmy's shell as a makeshift shield for both of them.
