I don't remember the logic behind much of anything in this timeline. Probably most of the dates were handwaved. And in retrospect, I'm not a fan of the whole "Earth is the origin of humanity in the SM universe" thing. For one thing, the plethora of other mostly-humanoid species — e.g. Mau cats, Coronis crows, Xenian Flowers, Makaiju space elves, possibly Kakyuu & the Starlights — suggests that there's a galactic template going around, with no indication that humanity has to be its ur-example. (My bets are on Guardian Cosmos.)

You won't need to read the timeline before tackling the story, and in fact probably shouldn't, since the spoilers are pretty blatant. (The date range sweeps from the beginning of humanity to Crystal Tokyo.) All you need to know going in is that the action takes place while the Silver Millennium is still thriving.

10,000 B.C.
Humanity rises on planet Earth.

3000 B.C.
Faster-than-light space travel developed.

Around 1900 B.C.
Colonization of the galaxy is rampant; Sailor Soldiers and planet powers are being discovered.

Around 1800 B.C.
The first of the Sailor Wars; lasts about 90 years, involves hundreds of sailor deaths and is ended by Sailor Galaxia.

Approx. 1500-450 B.C.
Humanity's golden age, the "Silver Millenium"; Moon Kingdom is prosperous

429 B.C.
Xyll Kingdom falls; Queen Serenity I ascends the Moon throne

Approx. 450 B.C.
Moon Kingdom falls; Metallia sealed away; Chaos begins to corrupt Galaxia (note: she's extremely long-lived)

Around 400 A.D.
The second of the Sailor Wars starts up; with the Moon power not yet incarnated and Galaxia gone, there will be no quick end for this one.

1995 A.D.
Princess Serenity and guardians, reincarnated in Tokyo, Japan, defeat Queen Metallia; across the galaxy, Sailor Starlights lose the battle for Kinmokusei.

1997 A.D.
Eternal Sailor Moon defeats Sailor Chaos; hundreds of thousands of Star Seeds, including the Xyll soldiers', are freed.

2012 A.D.
Vengeful victims of Sailor Moon band together to plunge Earth into an ice age

3019 A.D.
Ice age ended; preserved humans revived; Crystal Tokyo founded; humanity's silver age begins

3026 A.D.
Crystal Tokyo attacked by Black Moon family
