I'm confused by who's saying/thinking what in the last section. Could you clarify? Basically in the first few italicized lines, who is the "you"? Wait, is it just Stephen addressing himself the entire time? If so, I don't think I really get what he's trying to say...

Also, what "ridiculous demands" are you/Stephen referring to?
