I do TDS recaps, so I know exactly which correspondents were on the show on any given day. That's how I choose which ones to bring in; and I take the interactions from there. (Lucky for me Jason was on today, eh?)

I think I just used "nicked" because I read enough British stuff that the language seeps into my brain. Although I may have subconsciously leaned towards the Britishisms because it was Oliver.

I don't know how TDS chooses its guests, but NFZ has covered a little bit of TCR: there's a woman whose full-time job is reading the books people send and narrowing them down. I think Stephen makes the final call; his step involves going into character, looking at the author and subject, and seeing if he has an interesting reaction.

Ah, Jon. He asked Jason about Sam because he wanted ideas for what to do when you offend someone that you really deeply care about, not just any random acquaintance (I'm sure Jason offends those all the time). But, true to form, he didn't make the connection to his being subconsciously in love with Stephen. (Jason, by the way, did. He's figured out that Jon and Stephen aren't sleeping together, but, like the staff at the Christmas party, he takes it for granted that they should be.)

I love slipping in references to how kinky Sam and Jason secretly are. They're the one canon hetero couple where both members have on-screen personae (well, there's Steve/Nancy, but nobody remembers Nancy), so it's easier to take liberties with both of them.
