Hey now, confronting someone over their personal coping strategies (unless it's physically harmful to them or to someone else) is rarely a good idea -- even if it's someone you know personally, which in this case it isn't.
I obviously don't know your friend's kid, but if marijuana is the most effective treatment a person can find for their depression, I can't see any reason to object. Even if there are side effects, plenty of medically-endorsed treatments have those too.
There haven't been any teen stars yet who have come out while working for Disney (although there are several who have come out years later), so there's no way to be sure how the company would handle it. Olivia might get luckier than she expects, but she doesn't want to be the test case.
The ambition for Olivia's career is mostly Olivia's. Kristen just wants her to do what's fulfilling for her, without letting anything get in the way.
Going to a treatment center would definitely be a contract-ending move for Olivia, and living on her own would make it way too easy to backslide. Neither her mother nor Mac would approve of either option (and rightly so). Having her live with other family, though, is something they could agree on.
As for Stephen, his stance on premarital sex has been heavily influenced by purity-culture beliefs like "you'll be ruined and disgusting if you do this" and rape-culture beliefs like "if you consent to having sex with one person, then you have to consent to anything." Without those, he's discovering that, on his own, he doesn't want to hold out for a proposal -- and the level of trust and love he has with Jon is enough for him to go farther.
Jon is good with words. Even if the compliments are literally just a list of things he can see at the moment =D
Stephen is mostly thinking of "being Jon's" in the sense of trusting Jon with the parts of himself he's been holding back. (...metaphorically as well as literally.)
Furious as he is in the moment, Jon isn't emotionally capable of premeditated murder. And the whole "ruining his life as well as Stephen's" factor comes in once he takes a minute to actually think through the consequences of his (otherwise very satisfying) vengeance fantasies.
If Stephen wanted to go public with his abuse, all he would have to do is make the announcement on Twitter. By the end of the day he'd have interviewers lining up at his feet to get the exclusive details. Problem is, he only barely trusted Jon with the story -- he hasn't even told his lifelong best friend. He's definitely not ready to deal with, say, panels of people on morning talk shows debating whether he's just lying for attention.
So the fame won't help him. The fortune, however...that, they'll be able to make use of.
