Briar Rose was trotting back and forth around Stephen's legs, her little face scrunched up with confusion. Jon scooped her up before Stephen could trip on her. "How much sleep did you get last night?"

Trying to picture what a confused dog looks like. Poor baby!ยด
And poor Stephen. At least he's limiting his intake of poison.

So I'm clearly not thinking too fast, and the considerate thing to do would be to walk me through your feelings rather than brush me off."

And he knows how his brain works and is giving Jon a user manual. I love it!

(Even though Tina had made decent money as one of the Weekend Update kids, you never wanted to assume someone's parents weren't keeping a tight fist around their paychecks, if not spending the cash as soon as it came in.)

Evil as show business parents may be, there's the Coogan Act which is there to safeguard at least 15% of the child's earnings.

Though they probably won't see the money until they turn 18, so that part is true.

"That's what she said," put in Kristen with a roguish grin. Olivia high-fived her.

This is an awfully un-feminist joke... O.O

Also I'm surprised Kristen doesn't go into a long tirade of how sexist it was to put Leia in a slave girl outfit.

"Just because I'm short doesn't mean bits of me can't be long," grumbled Jon. LOL

I have to admit I'm a bit meh about 16 year olds getting high on a semi-regular basis. But at least they're handling it somewhat responsibly; and Stephen at least has a medical reason for doing it.

"No, Jon, I know what this is," said Stephen sternly, reaching across their little circle. "This is peer pressure." He caught the joint out of Jon's hand, and, wow, speaking of deft fingers. "And I'm not going to cave! I will remain strong and true to my principles." With perfect old-Hollywood finesse, he took a long drag, exhaled, and declared, "I've got an iron will."

It really kind of is peer pressure. Even if Stephen's just putting up enough of a fight so that he can feel he stayed true to his convictions later.

"I..." Tina shook herself and sat up, and when she next spoke there was some force behind it. "I'll keep the glasses on, thanks."

Okay, this could mean she's interested in both Jon and Jimmy, but she said the guy is definitely not into Star Wars so that rules Jon out. Or does it?

"Aww, I would never hurt you," Kristen assured her. "Not unless you wanted me to. ...

:D :D

And Olivia has a secret masochistic streak!

"Forty-six. And excuse you, she is the epitome of geek sexy. Her and Taylor Swift."

Okay, there needs to be some fanart at some point. At least of MILF-faux-pundit-Miley. :D

(As a sidenote: the real Taylor's face is perfection, way beyond normal pop-star-cuteness. I've seen footage of her at various events and she's a 1940's femme fatale!)

Nobody should have been surprised when Stephen showed up the next morning with a pair of square, rimless frames perched on the bridge of his nose.

Haha! :D But I bet he'd look cute in the black heavy frames too.

"Because we can always leak some makeout photos, or make plans to drop the bomb in person at our next appearance, and once the dust settles we can get on with finding out what kinds of careers are out there for us as, you know, 'us'."

It's awesome that this opportunity is out there and that Jon is willing to do this for them.

That said, it pains me to know they have two whole years left to go before they're really free. The horrible things Stephen's dad can do to him in those two years... ;_;

The next thing Jon knew, he was being embraced by a teary Stephen and a tearier Steve, both of them alternately swearing he had nothing to worry about because they would be Best Frenemies Forever, and trying to work out which of them was the mom versus the dad in this scenario

Poor Jon being reminded of his parents' dysfunctional marriage. Hopefully the Stephens will be more considerate to the fact that everyone does not understand how they love.
