Sailor Moon | The Xyll Saga: Bonus Senshi

Type: Character profiles
Spoilers: Severe
Table of Contents: The Xyll Saga

Just because the story mainly takes place in one star system doesn't mean we won't hear from others. Particularly the "Great Senshi", the ones who preside over fundamental forces of the universe, and always seem to come in pairs. (Well, except Eternal Sailor Moon. She stands alone.)

Here be spoilers. Probably guessable ones, but still...humor me and read the whole saga (now half posted!) before proceeding.

All non-italic text and images that follow are taken directly from the profiles written in 2003.

Lethe and Mnemosyne

They're the sailor senshi in viridian and pink, respectively, Guardians of the Rivers of Memory and Oblivion. Lethe is far more direct and outgoing than quiet, sensitive Mnemoysne.

Their real names are lost forever in the past; at the time when our story takes place their bodies are under Chaos' control, but their spirits can appear, in dreams and visions, to those who need to remember or forget or a little of both.

Sailor Pluto

Sailor of Time

Name: Almost lost in the past, she was born Princess Eternity.
Aura: Black
Secondary color: Garnet
Talisman: The Garnet Orb
Element: Time (goes along with Chronos, Space)

Sailor Pluto henshin: Pluto Planet Power, Make Up!
Attacks:
Dead Scream. Always, always, always whisper this attack. It creates a planet-shaped energy sphere like the attacks of Uranus and Neptune.
Dark Dome Close! The forbidden attack: it stops time.

Super Sailor Pluto henshin: Pluto Crystal Power, Make Up!
Attacks:
Chronos Typhoon! A cyclone of energy called up by the Garnet Orb.

Sailor Pluto is the solitary Guardian of Time. She usually guards the Time Gate, keeping ordinary people from meddling with what must happen. However, as we will see, Pluto does a fair share of meddling herself. Her Talisman rests at the top of the Garnet Staff, which is actually the key to the Time Gate. She has a few smaller keys which relate to hers and enable the user to get to the Time Gate despite the fact that it is outside spacetime itself.

There are three things that Sailor Pluto must never do: Leave the Gate unguarded; alter the course of history; and stop time. In the millennia that she has lived through, she has done all three.

Notes on Pluto: The planet is mostly uninhabited, as is its moon. On this lonely planet is a single castle, Charon Castle, in which dwells a lone steward and her few attendants. There is no royal family and has not been for centuries; its only remnant is Sailor Pluto, who exists outside of normal reality, guarding the gates of Time for all of Eternity...

icon Sailor Ptah icon

There is no Sailor Ptah. (How could there be a sailor for a moon?)

Although, you know, since Chronos' destruction Ptah has continued in that orbit - and is large enough to qualify as a planet.

But no . . . that's absurd . . .

Sailor Saturn

Sailor of Destruction

Name: Princess Lucidity
Aura: Violet
Secondary color: Dark red
Talisman: The Silence Glaive

Sailor Saturn henshin: Saturn Planet Power, Make Up!
Attacks:
Death Reborn Revolution! The power of destruction manifest; nothing stands a chance. Creates the end that is neccessary for rebirth.

Super Sailor Saturn henshin: Saturn Crystal Power, Make Up!
Attacks:
Silence Wall! A protective shield that can block any physical and almost any magical assault.
Silence Glaive Surprise! A moment of silence followed by a very basic explosion of destructive energy summoned by the Silence Glaive - full potential unknown.

Because of her power to destroy the world, Sailor Saturn has always been a feared and shunned soldier. When Princess Lucidity was born, several decades before the destruction of the Xyll system, and discovered to have the power to become Sailor Saturn, she was placed in suspended animation and remains there now.

Notes on Saturn: Despite being sixth from Sol, the gas giant Saturn boasts moons with temperate climates and a thriving society. One of the moons was [re]named Rhea after the deserted Xyll planet.

icon No, seriously, though, Sailor Ptah icon

Sailor of Creation

Sailor PtahName: Ryn (no known last name)

Planet: Chronos

Age: Fifteen (Earth years)

Henshin: Ptah Prism Power, Make Up! Ryn holds out her locket and a bright pillar of light erupts around her. It streams upward for a moment as more light pours out of the ground, and then the light stops coming and the end of it flies up out of sight, leaving her in fuku.

Henshin item: A locket that appeared when the entire transformation power of the Hoshizuishou was exerted at once (i.e. the other four sailors transformed simultaneously)

Ptah Locket

Attack: Lunar Eclipse! Sailor Ptah doesn't need to say anything to activate this attack. She pulls a small ball of green energy out of nowhere and suspends it between her palms until it grows. She can hold it for as long as she chooses; the larger, the more powerful. Then she hurls the ball at her target.

Colors: The aura of Sailor Lethe and the aura of Sailor Mnemosyne - viridian and pink

[ A note on symmetry:

Queen Hades of Chronos, named for the deity also known as Pluto, is from the same family line as Setsuna of Pluto, said to be the daughter of the deity known as Chronos. Sailors Pluto and Chronos are a pair (time and space), similar to Sailors Lethe and Mnemosyne. Of course, Chronos was also known as Saturn...thus why Sailor Saturn makes a pair with Ptah (destruction and creation).

Well, I thought it was neat. ]
