Title: The Grey Wolf Is On The Prowl
Series: TDS/TCR
Rating: PG

Summary: Another prompt from [personal profile] aybara_max: Jon/Wyatt after the recent segment. Jon thinks he's the Big Bad Boss seducing Wyatt, then the tables are suddenly turned on him.

Followed by Five Other Correspondents Jon (Thought He) Seduced.

The Grey Wolf Is On The Prowl

Catching his own eye in the mirror, Jon gave his outfit a final once-over. Suave, classic suit: check. Impossibly charming grin: check. Nothing between his teeth: hold on...okay, check.

Dabbing just the right amount of cologne on his wrists and neck, he strolled out into the front room.

The new correspondent was perched on the edge of Jon's couch, looking as awkward in his own suit as a teenager going on a first date, with all the freshness and innocence that went with it. Nervous but perky — just the way Jon liked them.

"Sorry to keep you," he said smoothly. "Unless," he added, with just a hint of roguishness, "you wanted to be kept?"

Wyatt jumped to his feet, hastily brushing off his jacket. "Whatever you want is fine, boss."

"That's what I like to hear." Slowly and deliberately, Jon turned on that smile. "You'll go far in this business, Wyatt. Very far, if I'm not mistaken. And I never am."

Resting his fingertips on Wyatt's still-brushing hand, he pushed it gently but firmly out of the way and ran his own palm up the younger man's lapel.

"Mr. Stewart," realized Wyatt, with wide-eyed seriousness, "you're trying to seduce me."

Jon lifted his eyebrows, the smile never leaving his face. "And if I am?"

"Oh, wow," breathed Wyatt. "You are adorable."

This was, to put it mildly, not the reaction Jon was hoping for.

"Bwuh?" he said cleverly.

Openly giggling now, Wyatt cupped Jon's head between his hands and ruffled his hair. "You are, like, the cutest old man ever!"

At last Jon found his voice. "Old?" he echoed in disbelief. "I know I'm not exactly a kid, but I'm only — what — fourteen years older than you!"

"Exactly!" laughed Wyatt. "You're almost old enough to be my dad! Seriously, though — no offense, because that can be totally hot. But you gotta get up earlier in the morning to pull one over on me, daddi-o."

Jon winced. "Okay, first of all, don't call me that, it's creepy. Second, who even says that any more?"

"Aww." Winding his arms around Jon's neck, Wyatt leaned against him. "You liked it when I called you 'boss', though, right?"

"There was a certain level of respect there that I found enjoyable, yes—"

"Awright." Wyatt grinned and began hauling the still-flustered Jon in the direction of the bedroom. "Come on, boss. Let's see how long you can keep up with me."

Jon is kinda creepy like this (although his wounded pride at the end is amusing). And your Wyatt is absolutely perfect! The way he comes off as silly and naive and yet still manages to see through Jon from the beginning. :D

Jon is not nearly as creepy as he thinks he is. He's just letting his internal monologue get carried away.

Thanks! Wyatt has a very distinct voice; it's a lot of fun =3

Your failed seduction stories are the absolute best. I'm picturing Jon going after the other correspondents, and, seeing as his confidence is still very much intact before Wyatt brings him down, I'm guessing he's succeeded in seducing the others. That's an interesting picture.

Or they all decided not to burst his bubble cos he's soo cute except for Sam and Jason but Jon tells himself they don't count because, well, they're Sam and Jason

Yes, please.

I don't know which is cuter, Jon trying to be seductive or Wyatt's reaction.

What a weird thing to be recognized for.

I thought about implying in this one that the other correspondents laughed about the whole thing behind Jon's back (so Wyatt had heard stories, and was expecting this). But that seemed too mean.

I figure most of them just smile to themselves and go along with it, because, really, he is so cute - he's fun to indulge. And, y'know, hot.

This story is adorable. I didn't realise Wyatt had such a specific presence, but he does, and you got it perfect.

There isn't enough Wyatt, and I think you got him pretty damn well.

I swear, I just lost it right here. Three cheers for young Wyatt and the cutest old man ever that was trying to take... advantage..- lol, oh man. It was just really cute, how you did it.

You've checked the "remember me"/"keep me logged in" box when it shows up, right?

Jon is especially adorable when he thinks he's being tough. Thanks :D

I just responded to this in the OT thread, but I had to respond here as well because The Grey Wolf Is On The Prowl just made me spray laugh, thankfully water all over my sofa instead of my computer screen XD

You did indeed capture Wyatt's voice adorably, his combined 'innocence' and youthful confidence, and Jon <3 <3 <3 is too adorable to ever really come off as creepy, though I imagine it is ridiculously fun for him to try to play the lecherous old man...until he turns back into the squishy teddy bear that every knows he is ^_^

I doubt there will ever be enough of it, but Jon/Wyatt is suddenly a cherished pairing of mine <3

I sweated over that title XD

Jon thinks he can play predator. Then somebody cracks up, and he gets all awkward and nebbishy again.

Maybe we can start a trend!

Lovely piece! I really like the way you wrote Wyatt, slightly deferential but cool and cocky at the same time. Now I'll have to go hunting for more fic with him.

"Oh, wow," breathed Wyatt. "You are adorable."

Poor Jon thinks he's some sort of predator when everybody else sees him for the cute koala bear that he is XD

There is criminally little Wyatt fic out there. Someone should really write more of it.

Thanks!

Actually, in this 'verse, Stephen slept with Jon very early on. He occasionally makes noise about getting Jon denounced as a sexual predator, but in private he'll admit that it's all out of affection =3

Thanks!

For real, but the question is all his life? Someone must explore his younger days when he had a full head of black hair lol

Yeah I don't know why he isn't in fanfic more >_>
