Mix - General: North For The Winter

Medium: General
Fandom: Real life
Subject: moving out
Title: North For The Winter

A mix for that time I moved out of my parents' house and went to live in Boston.

blackmore's night :: where are we going from here
on a long road, miles to go - it's winding and cold and it's covered in snow

fame :: out here on my own
sometimes I wonder where I've been, who I am, do I fit in

augustana :: boston
gonna go to Boston, I'm gonna start a new life

avenue q :: what do you do with a b.a. in english? / it sucks to be me
four years of college and plenty of knowledge have earned me this useless degree
(technically, religion and political science)

boh runga :: names in the sand
don't wanna curse at the waves as they come wash away my temporary permanent plans

semisonic :: closing time
so gather up your jackets, move into the exits; I hope you have found a friend

wicked :: defying gravity
it's time to trust my instincts, close my eyes, and leap

rodney atkins :: if you're going through hell
don't slow down; if you're scared, don't show it

leann rimes :: one-way ticket
gonna buy a one-way ticket on a westbound train, see how far I can go
(technically, a northbound truck)

blood brothers :: bright new day
we're moving away, we're starting all over again: we're leaving this mess for our new address: 65 skelmersdale lane
(technically...uh, some other address)

billy joel :: the river of dreams
we all end in the ocean, we all start in the stream

blackmore's night :: 3 black crows
laughing at humanity and its pretense, wondering where next to fly

::

bonus :: west side story :: maria
(this one has too many "technically"s, so just replace the lyrics wholesale with the following...)

LiveJournal!
I met this great girl on LiveJournal!
And suddenly that site has never been more nice to me
LiveJournal!
Moved in with a girl from LiveJournal!
And suddenly I've found how very strange the Net can be
LiveJournal!
Isn't quite how I would have planned it
And my folks really don't understand it
LiveJournal!

Great mix! Also, I like that last one. :D Your wholesale replacement of lyrics was well done and beautiful there. :)

Good luck on the move. Moving out like that can be really really scary and I hope it goes well for you.

Religion and political science?! Me too! I'm packing up to move right now myself, so...*downloading*!

(I'd suggest for your enjoyment,

Arcade Fire - Windowsill http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbO2Eh_SJj4
I Don't wanna give 'em my name and address
I Don't wanna see what happens next
I Don't wanna live in my father's house no more

and Dixie Chicks - Wide Open Spaces http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlDPPu53V80

:D )

Best of luck~

Nabbing! Also, "I and Love and You" by the Avett Brothers is a great traveling song.

"Load the car and write the note/grab your bag and grab your coat/tell the ones that need to know/we are headed North"

Good luck in your move!

This looks lovely! Downloading, with thanks.

Taking the opportunity to share this fanmix (http://sickle-stories.livejournal.com/48345.html) I made on the same theme.

:)

I feel exactly the same way you do right now. Well probably not exactly. I left for college last year but I spent a good portion of the year terribly homesick before I was finally able to get through it. But now I've been back for the whole summer and it feels like I never left and I've been trying to keep the panic from flooding me all over again.

Thank you so much for this mix, I think it's gonna help :)
