Title: The Great Responsibilities of Oz
Fandom: The Wizard of Oz
Characters/Pairings: Dorothy/Tip [Ozma], Wizard, Toto, Glinda, others
Rating: T
Contents: Canon-typical violence, parental-figure abuse

First fic post in a year...and it's my next Yuletide fic!

Dorothy is an ordinary Kansas girl who attends classes, does her chores, and deals with the pranks of her annoying-but-endearing classmate Tip. Also, sometimes she puts on a cape and uses magic to fight crime. As you do.

or: hey recip, I noticed you reblog a fair amount of Marvel, so here's the Oz modern-day superhero AU.

( He identified himself only as the Wizard. He'd been using his powers to craft enchanted objects and sending them out into the world, identifying worthy young people who could use them to fight the forces of evil. )

Title: Toto, Too
Fandom: Oz
Characters/Pairings: Toto & Dorothy, pre-Dorothy/Ozma, ensemble
Rating: G

Everyone thinks Toto can't talk...and that's just the way he likes it.

His second fairy adventure is much safer than the first, and his little mistress more adept at all kinds of queer travel; but Toto intends to keep to his old habits as long as possible, just in case.

( 'Where did you go, huh, boy? I know where Dorothy imagines she went, but you must've seen the real thing. Oh, I wish you could talk!' )

A somber event forces a couple of Ozians to struggle with their feelings about (im)mortality.

Attempts to wrangle, if not reconcile, canon's various inconsistencies and retcons on the subject. For [community profile] hc_bingo, May '12 challenge, prompt "death." Also on the AO3.

'Dorothy knows adventures better than anyone. You might trust her on that, at a time like this or any other.' )

Title: The Gender Ninja of Oz
Rating: PG-13 (light sexual content)
Characters/pairings: Ozma/Dorothy, Tin Man, Scarecrow, Toto, Jack Pumpkinhead
Contents: Major spoilers through The Emerald City of Oz (book 6); minor ones through Tik-Tok of Oz (Book 9).

Prompt: [livejournal.com profile] lgbtfest, prompt 3782: Wizard of Oz series, Ozma, Ozma's gender identity is complicated - zie wasn't fully satisfied as a boy when zie was Tip, but isn't fully satisfied as a girl when zie is Ozma. On top of that zie is in love with Dorothy. Is there any resolution to this?
Notes: Ozma/Tip's pronouns will be going all over the place; sometimes they match hir physical body at the time, sometimes not. Most of this sticks to Baum's canon, though I have pulled one detail from Ruth Plumly Thompson: rather than staying at the same age forever, characters can choose on their birthdays whether to grow that year. Title nabbed from Genderfork. Full-size versions of the illustrations will be showing up with my other Oz fanart. And, as always, other trans!fics are here.

"I might try it for awhile,—just to see how it seems, you know. But if I don't like being a girl you must promise to change me into a boy again."

"Really," said the Sorceress, "that is beyond my magic. I never deal in transformations, for they are not honest, and no respectable sorceress likes to make things appear to be what they are not."

The Marvelous Land of Oz

'You never talk about your life before they let you be Princess again,' says Dorothy crossly. 'I s'pose being a farm girl isn't very exciting next to being ruler of all of Oz...but I'd like to hear about it some time, all the same.' )
