Title: Boys (and Girls) of Summer
Rating: PG-13

For [community profile] queer_fest, prompt: Any fandom, any character, Being queer and mentally ill, and knowing the difference between the two. "Stephen" is (enthusiastically) functionally bi when he's manic, and has no sex drive at all when he's depressed. His wife and his best friend try to manage him through his moods, and everyone (even Stephen himself) is mostly guessing as to where his genuine attractions fall.

( Lorraine is aware of her husband's escapades, and tries not to let them bother her. )

Prompt from [personal profile] kribban, who wanted hurt/comfort about "Stephen" losing his arm during the bear-mauling at the 2012 Night of Too Many Stars.

Established-marriage fic. Title is from Company's "Being Alive." (Glee version / John Barrowman version / version with background Stephen.) Also on the AO3.

Ridiculous, impossible situations always seemed to work out when Stephen was involved. )

In which Jon has to get his act together or else, and this turns out to be a proper crossover rather than a setting AU after all.

Relevant to this fic: a cat cuddling with baby hedgehogs. And as some of you noticed, Stephen's Sentinel/Guide not-romance novels are straight out of early Sentinel fandom (yes, even the "gen" French kissing).

The 2007 WGA strike and a hastily-planned wedding blow through Jon and Stephen's lives at about the same time. All while Stephen is more hormonal than usual, and Jon is struggling as a beta to rise to the alpha-shaped expectations being placed on him. Will they ever get a good night's sleep again? Will they at least manage to settle on a baby name?

For my [community profile] hc_bingo round 3 card, prompt "insomnia."

'Besides, we can't haul an infant everywhere during the ceremony, so it needs to be now, so they can spend the whole day being very very clear on how fertile you are.' )

Loosely connected tales from the AU where Jon owns a harem, with a bunch of the correspondents as his concubines. Featuring idficcy sex slavery for some, snark and wary self-sufficiency for others, a dark!Jon struggling to redeem himself, and a background of vaguely cutthroat political infighting.

Takes place in a fictional empire called Qumarica, a play on the fictional state of Qumar in The West Wing (h/t [personal profile] politicette for the idea). Thus the title.

Disclaimer: #NotIntendedToBeAFactualStatement. Characters belong to the Report. Names of real people are used in a fictitious context, and all dialogue, actions, and content are products of the author's imagination only.

I retconned part of Little Red State Riding Hood, so now the Wolf does actually eat the Candidate instead of having him put on a bus. Which leaves him with this whole empty mansion to hang out in. Stephen sticks around, too, because he is weak for a small fuzzy person in a suit. (With illustrations and more illustrations!)

And then there is some adventure in which Olivia tweets, Jon gets shot at from a helicopter, and Stephen comes to the rescue.

For my [community profile] hc_bingo round 3 card, prompt "forced to rely on enemy/rival." (A wolf relying on creatures who might under other circumstances have been wolf chow totally counts.) Mirror on the AO3.

And sure, Jon ate actual humans once in a while, but everyone had their flaws. Why, Stephen's own dearly-deceased Candidate had killed lots of people in his day (if by 'people' you meant 'corporations', which Stephen did). )

Working off of a kink meme prompt. While in an established relationship, Stephen is assaulted by a third party. He's convinced he can't tell Jon — that Jon will see him as unfaithful, or blame him for letting it happen. (Spoiler alert: Jon won't.)

For my [community profile] hc_bingo round 3 card, either "humiliation" or "job-related trauma". Title is from U2's "Drowning Man".

Some things came easily. Stephen already considered himself entitled to chocolate and flowers on Valentine's Day, for instance, so Jon had an easy adjustment there. )

Homura tests the limits of her body's ability to heal.

An even more psychologically-messed-up spin on MadoMagi than usual. For my [community profile] hc_bingo round 3 card, prompt "blood loss." Title is a Suzanne Vega lyric. Also on the AO3.

In what she will later acknowledge to be a less than auspicious first move, she starts by shooting herself in the foot. )

Olivia's a bridesmaid at her girlfriend's wedding. It's not great for her insecurities. Luckily, she has an Asian-ish friend around to give her a pep talk.

For my [community profile] hc_bingo round 3 card, prompt "panic attacks".

If you hadn't read the right Uncanny X-Men issues, you would have no idea that Emma Frost had ever worn something as modest as Kristen's bridal gown. )

Title: Homecoming Queens

IT'S DONE.

The liberal AU version of "Stephen" brings his queer kinky Jewish boyfriend to a Fourth of July barbecue with his old-fashioned Southern Evangelicatholic Republican family. Hijinks ensue.

This is unrelated to previous connected liberal!Stephen stories: it's post-divorce for Jon, a wifeless AU for Stephen, with them in an established relationship featuring BDSM using stoplight safewords.

And seriously, having it finished is a minor miracle. This poor fic has been a WIP since 2009. The It Gets Better Project, same-sex marriage laws in New York, and Anderson Cooper all came out while it was in progress.

Also goes in my [community profile] hc_bingo round 3 card, wildcard prompt "family". Major much-belated thanks to [profile] ladyanneboleyn and [personal profile] politicette, who made this story possible by being willing to educate me about their culture.

'Jon, I know my family isn't the most progressive group of people in the world, but if just for today you can be tolerant and nonjudgmental of their intolerance and judgment, we can have a not-terrible time.' )

Stephen should have paid more attention to the warnings on Vaxicarus.

(A wingfic. Also, an understated acefic. For my [community profile] hc_bingo Round 3 card, prompt "medication.")

Stephen swallowed two, chased them with a swig of Bud Lite Lime (he had gallons of the stuff, and they kept sending more; he'd taken to brushing his teeth with it), and went to bed. )

Contents: Character death (arguably). Major spoilers through The Patchwork Girl of Oz (book 7).
Disclaimer: I didn't create these characters...not that it matters. Public domain FTW.

A somber event forces a couple of Ozians to struggle with their feelings about (im)mortality.

Attempts to wrangle, if not reconcile, canon's various inconsistencies and retcons on the subject. For [community profile] hc_bingo, May '12 challenge, prompt "death." Also on the AO3.

'Dorothy knows adventures better than anyone. You might trust her on that, at a time like this or any other.' )

Title: Spell Me Once, Shame On You
Fandoms: Fake News/Harry Potter
Cast: Jon/"Stephen" (with a dash of Olivia)
Rating: R
Warnings: Non-con by magic, (skip) or so it seems

Stephen Colbert, Gryffindor fifth-year, sneaks a totally guaranteed black-market love potion into Jon's lunch. Part of its guarantee is that if it's not countered by the antidote potion within under an hour, the effects will be permanent. Oh, and, turns out it's really more of a lust potion. Possibly Stephen should have thought this one through a little more.

For my April mini-challenge card in [community profile] hc_bingo, prompt "accidental mating for life." Characters' houses and wands are those described in Fake News Quidditch Rumble.

He didn't see blood purity, of course, but people told him he was from an old and respected wizarding family, and he believed it because he didn't understand the point of trousers. )

Title: But She Talks Like A Gentle Soul
Fandom: Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Characters/Pairings: Moemura, ???
Rating: G
Disclaimer: MadoMagi isn't mine. Sad but true.

A five-year-old Homura decides to run away and live in the woods. This is an excellent and well-crafted plan that cannot possibly go wrong.

For the [community profile] hc_bingo February mini-challenge, prompts wild card: orphans, unrequited pining, lost childhood, and stalkers. Title is from the genderflipped cover of "When You Were Young." Also here on the AO3.

Also there was someone following her. Homura was pretty sure it wasn't a wolf, but maybe it was a really tall wolf, and even if it was a person, people could be scary too. )

Inspired by a kink meme prompt: "Chris Christie vetoes the NJ gay marriage bill, and NJ resident "Stephen" wants Jon to know he isn't completely and utterly devastated by the news. Really, he's not. Even as he cries himself to sleep at night in his lover's comforting arms."

Posting as an ordinary fic because it didn't come out particularly kinky. Although it does have chocolate. And kittens.

Jon found Stephen tapping his foot in front of the stove, a half-empty bag of chocolate chips in one hand and a batter-dripping spoon in the other. )

Teen-through-young-adult AU: Jon[athan] and "Stephen" are gay dog groomers in California, while Olivia and company are eighth graders nearby. Oh, and a cute new British kid just transferred into their class. And Kristen maybe likes him?? Drama!

Wildly out-of-season, I know, but I needed a last-minute fill for the [community profile] hc_bingo round 2 card, prompt "heat stroke."

'I've just moved here from England, so you're welcome to ask me any questions you have in preparation for our inevitable re-conquest of your charming little nation. Cheerio.' )
